Gironde. Refusal to comply: the young driver imprisoned

The young driver without a license who admitted having hit a gendarme on Wednesday evening in Pugnac (Gironde), seriously injuring him, was indicted and imprisoned this Saturday. This man born in 2001 is accused of « attempted homicide on a person holding public authority ».

He asked for a delay to prepare his appearance before a judge of freedoms and detention, as the law allows, and was imprisoned pending this debate scheduled for Wednesday, explained the parquet floor of Bordeaux.

The policeman suffers from « serious injuries »

Friday, the public prosecutor of Bordeaux Frédérique Porterie had indicated that this young man had admitted to having hit a gendarme who told him to stop for a roadside check but denied « any homicidal intention ». « Throwed 15 meters », the soldier suffered « serious injuries » which « could lead, in the opinion of the doctors, to very serious sequelae ».

According to the prosecutor, the respondent « did not have a driver’s license », « was not insured for this vehicle » and « had consumed cannabis on the day of the events ». He had fled but presented himself to the gendarmerie on Thursday morning. He was convicted last year of driving without a license.
