Geena Davis Reveals Who Hated Brad Pitt For Landing ‘Thelma & Louise’ Role

Geena Davis has revealed that an A-list actor hated Brad Pitt because he was jealous that Pitt landed the ‘Thelma & Louise’ role in front of him.
On an episode of « The Graham Norton Show, » Davis, who starred opposite Susan Sarandon in the 1991 film Ridley Scott, recalled Pitt’s audition to play his love interest JD.
« Each one of them was very handsome, » the ‘A League Of Their Own’ star said of the four actors reading for the role.
« They all had brown hair and were very talented. I didn’t care who it was going to be. Then the fourth comes along, and it’s Brad Pitt. He’s so charismatic and so incredibly talented that I ruined his audition.
Davis shared that she was so smitten with the blonde hunk that she forgot his line – but she gave him her approval for the role.
She didn’t know about JD’s other prospects at the time, but they were Mark Ruffalo and Grand Show of « Melrose Place. »
She had a chance meeting with the fourth contestant on a flight from Europe to Los Angeles.
« This gentleman was very nice and great, » she recalls.
« And finally he said, ‘You know, I hate Brad Pitt. I said, ‘No, you don’t – he’s, like, a really good friend of yours.’ He said, ‘No, I hate him because he got the part.’ ”
« I said, ‘Oh, did you want the part? And he said, ‘You couldn’t tell when I auditioned with you?’ And that was George Clooney.
Clearly, time has softened Clooney’s hatred for the hunk because the pair have become great friends, starring in the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ and ‘Burn After Reading’ franchises together.
And in a September interview with Vogue, he called the ER star « the most handsome man alive. »
