Edmontonians may notice a rotten egg smell in parts of the city for the next week or so, Edmonton Fire and Rescue Services warns.
Just before 7 p.m. Monday, Edmonton firefighters received a call reporting the smell of gas in the 34th Street and Sherwood Park Freeway area, spokeswoman Brittany Eveneshen said in a statement.
The gas leak occurred in Strathcona County at Imperial Oil’s tank farm, causing a rotten egg smell in parts of Edmonton.
Edmonton firefighters did not respond to the gas leak.
“The leak posed no risk to the public. However, the rotten egg smell may be noticeable in Edmonton for up to a week or more,” Eveneshen said.
