Death likely linked to nitrous oxide inhalation
An investigation was opened after the death on Saturday August 6 of a young man who allegedly inhaled nitrous oxide before his death. An autopsy and toxicological examinations are in progress. Easy to obtain, nitrous oxide, used in siphons in the kitchen, is increasingly used for recreational purposes. Cases of burns, loss of consciousness, asphyxiation and neurological, even cardiac or psychiatric problems have exploded in recent years.

Against urban rodeos, the reinforcement of controls
The Minister of the Interior announced on Monday August 8 an intensification of controls throughout France against people performing urban rodeos, citing the objective of “10,000 control operations” in the month of August. “The government has an extremely firm hand (…) against these often criminal acts which come to kill, which come to injure”, assured Gérald Darmanin. A 10-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were seriously injured on Friday evening when they were knocked down while playing on the esplanade of their neighborhood in Pontoise (Val-d’Oise) (read our yesterday’s edition).

Purchasing power, the Constitutional Council seized
More than 60 socialist senators seized, Monday, August 8, the Constitutional Council on articles of the purchasing power bill, in particular those relating to the regulated price of nuclear electricity. Friday, deputies members of the Nupes had filed appeals on “the monetization of RTT days” and the « removal of the fee », and against a law that undermines, more generally, “ to the constitutional objective of protecting the environment ».
