For stricken Lebanon, Ukrainian grain shipments may not be enough

The first grain shipment to leave Ukraine’s main Black Sea ports since the Russian invasion is set to dock in Tripoli, Lebanon, the country with the highest food inflation in the world, this week, completing a test for a deal international effort to alleviate the global food crisis.

The vessel, carrying more than 26,000 metric tons of maize, is making the first delivery under the United Nations-brokered grain export deal, and its imminent arrival in Lebanon highlights the deal’s stakes for poorest countries.
