Flag waving van fined over $1,000 for traveling along Wellington Street

A pickup truck driver was fined more than $1,000 on Friday after being caught by Ottawa police while traveling along the closed section of Wellington Street near the Parliament Buildings.

The white van, sporting the provincial flag of Ontario and another unidentified flag, drove west down the deserted street.

“The fines were for driving without a licence, driving with a hand-held device, driving on a closed road and disobeying a sign.

“Reminder: Wellington Street remains closed to unauthorized vehicular traffic,” Ottawa Police said in a tweet.
