Five face charges in the death of a man whose remains were found in rural Alberta last year

FORT MACLEOD, Alta. — Five people have been arrested in the death of a man whose remains were found in a rural area of ​​southern Alberta last year.

RCMP said in a news release that the five men were arrested Friday in the homicide of 35-year-old Lane Tailfeathers.

Police say the charges they will face, as well as their identities, will be released once the charges are laid.

Tailfeathers was reported missing by his family on June 20, 2021, after police said he had not returned to his home in Fort Macleod, Alta.

A month later, Alberta Fish and Wildlife responded to a report of possible human remains, which were later determined to be Tailfeathers.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they have any information about Tailfeathers’ death.
