Firefly looks into its defense ambitions with an acquisition of Scitec of $ 855 million

Firefly Aerospace said on Sunday that it agreed to buy the SCITEC defense analysis company for around 855 million dollars in cash and actions, opening the way to become an important player in the national security market.

Firefly will pay around $ 300 million in cash and $ 555 million in new shares, and the agreement should conclude by the end of 2025.

Scitec, based in Princeton, sells missile and monitoring weapons systems, awareness -raising tools for the space -frying field and analyzes to defense and intelligence customers. Earlier this year, Space Force awarded the company a $ 259 million contract to develop a ground system for missile detection satellites. The company declared an annual turnover of $ 164 million in late June.

The acquisition comes almost two months after the IPO of Firefly, which estimated it at nearly $ 10 billion. The agreement is part of the company’s efforts to reposition itself as a vertically integrated defense entrepreneur, to be a launch and Espacecrat manufacturer.

The contribution of SCITEC internally will undoubtedly prove to be useful, especially since the Pentagon seeks more business partners for missile monitoring and early alert systems, including for its “Golden Dome” missiles.

Once the agreement is ending, Scitec will operate as a subsidiary of Firefly and will be led by its current CEO, Jim Lisowski.
