Firefighters contain 11th floor balcony blaze in Toronto – Toronto


Firefighters responded to a balcony fire at a Toronto apartment building, police say.

In a tweet, Toronto police said a fire was reported on Woolner Avenue, east of Jane Street.

The fire broke out on an 11th floor balcony. Officers initially said it was possible people were trapped inside the unit.
Woolner Road was closed between Jane Street and Rockcliffe Boulevard for firefighters and paramedics to respond, police said.

The Toronto Fire told Global News that the building’s 11th, 12th and 14th floors were evacuated as a precaution to avoid smoke inhalation.

Paramedics said they treated two patients at the scene. One was taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries, they said.
