Fed official says tackling inflation will take time, despite signs of progress

Bringing inflation down from 40-year highs is likely to take time and will require slowing economic growth and reducing employer demand for workers, a Federal Reserve official said Tuesday.

Those efforts show tentative signs of progress, Fed Governor Philip Jefferson said in his first public remarks since taking office in May.
