FARNHAM, Qc — A 28-year-old woman lost her life in a collision that occurred Friday evening on Route 104, near Bricault Road, in Farnham, Estrie.
According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) investigation, the driver of a van deviated from his lane and hit another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction around 10:45 p.m.
Resuscitation maneuvers were attempted on the driver of the vehicle, originally from Bromont, but her death was confirmed at the hospital, said SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay.
The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was also taken to hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life threatening.
Both vehicles had ended up in the ditch after the head-on collision.
Route 104 was closed for part of the night from Friday to Saturday to allow patrol officers to investigate.
According to the SQ spokesman, there would be no criminal element at first sight, adding that this is a road where the speed is limited to 90 km/h. Mechanical inspections will be carried out.
