Facebook updates his algorithm to give users more control over the videos they see

Meta announced Tuesday a new Facebook algorithm update that will present more rolled up videos adapted to user preferences. The update includes features that provide users with greater control over the videos they see, research suggestions powered by AI and new friends.

Facebook will allow users to express their disinterest in more easily for these types of videos. They can now select “not interested” on a coil or report a comment, encouraging the engine of the recommendations to be adapted according to these comments.

The “saving” function has also been updated to simplify the coils and favorite publications in one place.

Changes can help resolve user complaints regarding unwanted content. Many users have expressed their frustration against coils that are deemed fatty, boring or filled with videos generated by low quality ai-generated. Meta has invested massively in AI, recently launching a short-circuit video flow called “vibes”, with only content generated by AI in the Meta AI application.

In addition, the update of the algorithm aims to prioritize the more recent content. Depending on the company, it will present users with 50% additional coils that have been downloaded the same day they scroll.

Facebook Reels will also present research suggestions powered by AI. These suggestions will recommend requests to help users discover more content on subjects they like, similar to the gray suggestions found at the bottom of Tiktok videos.

In addition, there will be new bubbles of friends on rolls and in the main flow so that users can see which publications liked their friends – similar to a functionality on Instagram. Users can press a bubble representing a friend’s profile photo to open a private message with them.
