Extreme heat is scorching Europe, fueling wildfires and drought

Wildfires have spread across Spain, France and other parts of Europe as scorching heat has mixed with months of little rain to turn the continent into a powder keg.

In Spain, where heat records have been set several times since June, the temperature exceeded 115 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas over the weekend. Firefighters have been dealing with wildfires since June. On Spain’s Costa del Sol, on the Mediterranean coast, authorities evacuated several thousand people as the fires spread to populated areas.
