Expensive life, superprofits, the rebellious in order of « general battle »

The rebels prepare for the « general battle ». During the Amfis (the summer university of rebellious France), Jean-Luc Mélenchon clearly gave the « the » of this political return for his activists and the 75 deputies of his movement. During a stroll on the sidelines of the debates on August 26, the founder of the FI assured that there would be no “no settlement possible” between rebels and government, charging Emmanuel Macron. « He uses words that show he hasn’t understood anything », denounced the former presidential candidate, an allusion to the speech on « the end of abundance ». “There never was. And the situation does not only require calming down, but a change in the way society is run”. For Jean-Luc Melenchon, “The battle will be there, determined, probably quite frontal. French political life has become a countdown to dissolution,” he promises again, using the words of the president of the rebellious group in the National Assembly, Mathilde Panot. The rebellious leader, who no longer has an electoral mandate, has also announced that he will now take the helm of the La Boétie Foundation.

A little earlier, it was the leader of the rebellious deputies, surrounded by her colleagues Adrien Quatennens, Manuel Bompard and Clémence Guetté, who developed what would be the axes of this battle. In addition to the climate emergency, it is the question of the cost of living that dominates this political return, as Manuel Bompard has pointed out. “We have been working for two weeks on the march against the high cost of living, he recalled, which aims to be complementary with union initiatives, which we will of course support”. “Discussions are progressing well” with the other political formations of the Nupes, the trade unions and associative organizations, also affirms the deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône. The rebellious also announced the launch of a petition to tax « superprofits »posted on August 26. “The government persists in refusing such taxation” denounced Manuel Bompard, and this petition aims to initiate a mobilization.

The rebels also specified that this 2022 edition of their Amfis is the one that brings together the most activists. Besides the “3800 pre-registrations”, the FI is expecting some 5,000 people in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère. Several government ministers (Marlène Schiappa, Olivia Grégoire and Clément Beaune) made the trip to participate in round tables. At LR, it was Rachida Dati who came to debate on August 27 questions of justice and security against the deputy for the North Ugo Bernalicis. Sunday morning, Jean-Luc Mélenchon will deliver his back-to-school speech, while a representative of each Nupes party will speak in the morning.
