Europe investigates unexplained leaks in Nord Stream gas pipelines

BERLIN — European authorities are investigating mysterious leaks at two currently closed Russian gas pipelines to Germany, raising concerns about the safety of critical energy infrastructure.

The leaks were detected after pressure in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, which connect Russia’s prolific gas fields to Germany’s industrial heartland, suddenly dropped on Monday.
