This was reported by the specialized site Open Court on Tuesday. The former world No. 5 ranks 1,443rd on the WTA Tour in singles, having not played an official match since March 2021 in Monterrey. Operated on the right shoulder last June, “Genie” could take advantage of his protected ranking – 118th place in the world – to take part in the qualifying phase of Roland-Garros.

The same source recalled that Bouchard was due to return to action at the ITF tournament in Palm Harbor, Florida. The 28-year-old athlete had even received an invitation from the organizers, but his name was not found in the main draw of the competition taking place this week.

Bouchard’s best run at the Parisian Grand Slam was in 2014, when she reached the semi-final.
