England soccer star Rooney agrees to reunite with DC United as head coach: reports

Wayne Rooney has agreed to coach DC United in Major League Soccer, a person familiar with the move has claimed.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Sunday because the deal had not been announced.
The longtime English football star played for the MLS club in 2018 and 2019. Once visa formalities are completed, Rooney is expected to replace caretaker manager Chad Ashton, who replaced Hernan Losada earlier this season.
Rooney, 36, played for Manchester in the English Premier League from 2004 to 2017 and is the top scorer in the history of the English national team.
Rooney resigned as manager of English club Derby last month after 18 months in charge. His reunion with DC United was first reported by The Washington Post.
