Elon Musk has more time to close the Twitter deal, not more options

A judge’s decision to grant Elon Musk a delay in his legal battle with Twitter Inc. gave the billionaire more time to finalize his acquisition of the social media platform, but no new leeway to avoid the deal if he changed his mind again, the next lawyers said the case.

Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick on Thursday suspended a trial that was due to start on October 17 and gave Mr Musk until October 28 to close his $44 billion takeover, after his about-face on Monday after months of efforts to get out of the deal. The judge said that if an agreement was not reached by that date, she would postpone the trial to November.
