Ellen DeGeneres is launching a YouTube series about her retirement life

Ellen DeGeneres will post new content on YouTube just five months after leaving her longtime daytime show.
About Time For Yourself… with Ellen will premiere weekly on her alma mater’s YouTube page and will see the « retired » host indulge in hobbies such as crocheting, birdwatching and more.
« You know, lately I’ve been taking some time just for myself, away from the cameras, » DeGeneres says in the promo clip above. « And I had such a great time, I thought I’d share some of what I did with you guys. »
The description of the eight-episode (so far) YouTube series adds, « After stepping back from the spotlight on her iconic talk show, Ellen is trying something bold and new – being unemployed. from the big resignation, she reconnects with her audience who may also have more free time and, if not, could certainly use some.In this new series shot at her home, Ellen shares her own attempts to try new things and get some time in her very Ellen way.
The first episode of About Time For Yourself… with Ellen premieres Saturday, October 22.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show came to the end of its 19-year run in May, nearly two years after DeGeneres’ reputation was tarnished by reports in BuzzFeed where numerous current and former employees described a hostile work environment that included allegations bullying, racism, sexual misconduct and harassment.
Several major producers were fired from the show, and DeGeneres apologized when her show returned for its 18th season in September 2020. However, in May 2021, DeGeneres revealed plans to end her daytime run. « When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it just isn’t a challenge anymore. »
