Animethon: Born in 1994 by Alberta’s Banzai Anime Klub, this annual otaku event is back, celebrating all things anime and beyond – including music, improv, games and more. sure amazing fan-made costumes. From Attack on Titan to Overlord to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – plus classics like Akira and Pokemon – the sprawling event includes screenings, dancing, a Maid and Butler Café and plenty of fan panels. Special guests this year include voice actors Khoi Dao, Chris Hackney, Brendan Hunter, Laura Stahl as well as comedians SennaRin, NANO, Pure Octane and Windrise Windband, plus superfan comedians The 404s. Ideal for novices and hardcore fans!

Cross cut: This summer, three mentors and four mentees shared their experiences of working in the lens-based practices of video, film, animation, and photography as part of the Art From Here II program. As their collaboration continues—toward a new series of interviews with former Art From Here artists—visit Latitude 53 for an overview of these artists’ recent projects and insight into their diverse practices. Featured artists are Dwayne Martineau, Eryn Tempest, Jamie McRae, Kev Liang, Molly Little, Salem Zurch and Seth Arcand.
