Dynamo’s slide continues

The painful month of August for the Houston Dynamo continued on Saturday at Allianz Field. Minnesota United came from behind to win 2-1, extending their winning streak to three games.

While the other two Major League Soccer teams from Texas, Austin FC and FC Dallas, are in excellent shape for the playoffs, it’s a different story for Dynamo, who occupy the penultimate place in the Western Association.
The Houston team had collected a small point in its last five meetings and did nothing to help its cause on Saturday.
The visitors were however the first to register for the score. Midfielder Corey Baird took advantage of a perfect delivery from Griffin Dorsey to escape at the edge of the penalty area, before deceiving the vigilance of Dayne St. Clair with a lob shot.
Camped in third place in the West, the Minnesota club had not said its last word. A free kick from Emanuel Reynoso in the 79th minute deflected off the foot of Fafà Picault, who was trying to stop the shot, to level the score.
Only five minutes later, Luis Amarilla hit a precise throw from Alan Benitez on one reception to turn the tide and ultimately give the victory to his team.
