Doug Ford swallows a bee during a live press conference

Social media is buzzing after Ontario Premier Doug Ford swallowed a bee during a live news conference in Dundalk, Ont.

Ford is on hand for an announcement with Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and discussing the state of health care in Ontario.

Prior to the incident, a lone bee can be seen buzzing around Ford’s head before disappearing into Ford’s mouth mid-sentence.

“My God, I just swallowed a bee!” exclaimed Ford. « I’m fine, he’s here buzzing right now. He has a lot of real estate.

« It’s going to be replayed over and over again, » Ford joked with reporters.

« It’s stuck in my throat, sorry guys, » the prime minister told the media as he touched his throat. « Dude, he went down the hatch. »

Ford, laughing, said the incident was « a classic », assuring reporters he was fine and « the bee is building a hive there ».

The Prime Minister continued the press conference, answering questions from reporters.

« I’m going to scream tonight watching this tape, » he said.
