“Over the summer, 11-year-old Jeremy spent his pocket money setting up a lemonade stand on Beverly Blvd. While working in the sun to earn some extra pocket money, he was approached by the photographed suspect, who offered him a $100 bill for a drink but asked for exact change,” Everett police said in a Facebook post.
Jeremy used all his pocket money to give the man $85 in change, only to find out later that the $100 bill was fake when he went to a local gas station to buy something and s is found without pocket money.
However, this sad story has a good ending.
When a family neighbor found out what had happened to Jeremy, she helped set up a GoFundMe account for him which has so far raised over $1,800.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to please call (425) 257-8450 or message on Facebook.
