Dogs killed 2 years in the daycare while the owner was sleeping, the police said

A 2 -year -old boy was mutilated to death by a pair of Rottweilers in a license -free daycare in Georgia on Saturday while the owner was taking a nap, the police, who accused the owner of the second degree murder.

The woman operating the establishment, Stacy Wheeler Cobb, 48, left the boy without supervision for more than two hours when the attack took place, according to the Valdosta police service.

Investigators said they believed that the boy had been able to leave Ms. Cobb’s house, where she ran the daycare in the courtyard, where he opened a kennel that housed the two Rottweilers who attacked him.

When the emergency workers arrived at Ms. Cobb’s home around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, the boy was dead, the authorities said.

At the time of the attack, the boy was the only child at Ms. Cobb, said the authorities. But most of the time, the police said, she kept 10 children in the establishment without license.

Animal control officers took care of the two Rottweilers and a third dog who was not involved in the attack, police said.

The police did not name the toddler, but his mother, Adrianna Jones, identified him on a gofundme fund collection page like Kaimir Jones, writing that he was her only child and that she was a single mother.

Ms. Jones said that she had worried when she had not heard Ms. Cobb for three hours and she had left work early to check her son. When she stopped at daycare, she said, there was a great police presence.

“It was a heartbreaking, devastating and traumatic scene that I would not like anyone,” wrote Ms. Jones. “I found my baby like that.”

Cobb was also accused of second degree cruelty to children and was taken to Lowndes County prison, where she was denied the deposit, according to the prison archives.

It was not clear if Mrs. Cobb had a lawyer.

“This is a horrible and tragic event that should never have occurred, but due to negligence in the name of this offender, a mother tragically lost a child,” said Leslie Manahan, Valdosta police chief in a statement.
