Disney issues behavior warning to park visitors as fights increase: ‘Be the magic you want to see’

Disney is warning guests to be on their best behavior at resorts in California and Florida after an increase in fights at the parks.

Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have added courtesy sections to the « Know Before You Go » section on their websites to remind guests that inappropriate behavior may result in eviction from the property.

For California park-goers, Disneyland’s disclaimer reads: « We ask that everyone who comes to this happy place treat others with respect, kindness and compassion. To help guests have a safe and enjoyable, we regularly update the rules for our Disneyland resort. »

Additionally, in the property rules section, the park asks guests to show « common courtesy » to other guests and cast members (employees) by « not using profanity or adopting no dangerous, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior, skipping lines or saving places in lines for others. »

Walt Disney World in Florida shares a similar message encouraging guests to « be the magic you want to see in the world » and to always treat others with respect, kindness and compassion. The park warns those who cannot live up to the « mere wish » that they will be asked to leave the station.

According to WDW News Today, fights have broken out at the Florida resort at multiple locations over the past year and a half, including Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, Living With The Land at EPCOT and on ferries to and the Magic Kingdom.

In July this year, a major fight between two families took place outside Peter Pan’s Flight just months after a woman suffered head injuries after an altercation during a fireworks display.

The California park has seen similar altercations, most recently with a brawl over Memorial Day weekend that resulted in the removal of several guests.

At the time, a Disneyland spokesperson gave the following statement to Fox 11 LA:

« We do not tolerate this type of improper behavior. Disneyland Resort security responded quickly, defused the situation and removed guests from the park. »
