Since its beta launch last June, Dia requires an invitation. Today, The Browser Company announced that its AI-powered successor to Arc is now generally available on macOS. Here’s how it works.

Dia offers a free Pro plan and a $20/month Pro plan

The Browser Company says Dia requires macOS 14+ with M1 chips or later, and offers a 14-day trial of its $20/month Pro plan, which offers unlimited chat usage, “provided usage complies with our terms of service, of course,” the company says.

In the free plan, Dia offers the following features:

  • Chat on any tab
  • Create custom skills
  • Mention tabs in any query
  • Add attachments to any query
  • Customize Dia with Memory

Dia also includes skills, which are a mix of user-created and internally designed shortcuts for everyday AI tasks like planning, learning, writing, coding, and more.

Some of the skills currently being emphasized include summarizing, fact-checking, browsing history analysis, presentation, and productivity planning.

Dia also offers features and skills designed specifically for students, including a study companion that helps turn notes, lectures, and readings into flashcards, quizzes, and personalized study guides.

Following today’s launch, Josh Miller, CEO of The Browser Company, said he would return to sending weekly updates and highlighted three features arriving in the coming weeks:

From today, the @browsercompany is back to sending weekly updates. October Dia releases include:

• More powerful memory (of your tabs)
• Redesigned Dia Skills
• Arc focus mode (CMD-S)

They all land @diabrowser this month. Oh, we also removed the waitlist today 🤗 pic.twitter.com/YKdecFrQ3n

Following the usual criticism regarding the abandonment of the Arc browser in favor of Dia, Miller also stated that “(more) of Arc’s greatest hits will be reimagined for Dia, beyond CMD-S.”
