NEWARK, NJ — Jesper Boqvist broke the deadlock midway through the third period and the New Jersey Devils beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 on Saturday night.

Tomas Tatar, who also got an assist, Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton also moved the ropes for the Devils, who posted a ninth consecutive victory.

It’s the Devils’ longest winning streak since winning nine straight between Nov. 17 and Dec. 7, 2007.

Third goaltender Akira Schmid, who came on relief two days ago against the Ottawa Senators, stopped 16 shots in his first start of the season.

Dylan Guenther and Clayton Keller hit the mark for the Coyotes, who had won the first three games of their 14 road trip.

Karel Vejmelka finished the game with 22 saves for the Arizona squad.
