Deion Sanders ‘preparing’ to become Colorado’s next head coach: report

Jackson State Head Coach Deion Sanders is preparing to become the next head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, according to ESPN.

Sanders and his team have called potential staff and a player into the transfer portal as he prepares to take the job.

The support staff in Boulder getting ready for Sanders to arrive this weekend, although nothing official has been told to staff, according to the report.

« They don’t do a great job of hiding this, » a staff source said, according to ESPN. « If he backs out of this deal, it would be a huge problem for Colorado. »
Sanders prepares his team for Saturday’s SWAC Championship game against Southern as he attempts to move his Tigers to 12-0. He is expected to let his team know shortly after the game that he will take the job from Colorado.

Earlier in the week, Sanders confirmed a Fox Sports report that he had been offered the head coaching job at Colorado.

The Colorado program fell on hard times and fired head coach Karl Dorrell after an 0-5 start to the season. The Buffs ended their 2022 campaign 1-8 in the Pac-12 and were blown by utah in their last match, 63-21.

Hiring Sanders would immediately make the Buffs a relevant program again.
Sanders revitalized the Jackson State program, leading the Tigers to a 26-5 record during his three seasons as head coach of the FCS program.
