The 26-year-old athlete confirmed everything to the ESPN network on Wednesday. However, he did not want to specify the reasons for this request.
Earlier this week, Samuel decided not to show up for the first day of voluntary training for the 49ers. At that time, several media claimed that it was a means of pressure to obtain a new contractual agreement for the 2023 campaign.
The second-round pick (36th overall) in the 2019 draft is due to play the fourth and final year of his rookie contract in 2022.
Samuel had a great season last year. The University of South Carolina product caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games. He also ran the ball 59 times for 365 yards and eight majors.
