Decline in the voting rate almost everywhere in Montreal

[ad_1]
The participation rate in provincial elections on the island of Montreal is 7.22% below the national average. Elections Quebec reports a drop in turnout in 19 of the city’s 27 ridings compared to 2018 data.
While the turnout in the province is estimated at 66.05% by Elections Quebec, the Montreal rate would rather be on average at 58.85%. The electoral division of Westmount–Saint-Louis (44.99%) has the lowest participation rate on the island of Montreal.
While Liberal ridings generally have lower turnout rates, at 9.07% below the average for the rest of the island, it is also among them that we find two of the largest increases since 2018.
In Bourassa-Sauvé, a riding won by Liberal candidate Madwa-Nika Cadet, turnout increased by 4.02%. In the neighboring riding of LaFontaine, won by Marc Tanguay, the vote rate increased by 3.3%.
Remember that the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec (DGEQ) conducted a broad campaign to encourage voting this year in the hope of raising the rates, an objective that was not achieved.
