Decatur City Council approves the agreement with Rock The South Organizers

Decatur, ala. (WHNT) – The City Council of Decatur approved a five -year investment and an incentive agreement with Rock Le Sud, which includes an investment in the city and compensation from the festival.

At a meeting of the municipal council on Monday, the Council approved the agreement during a 4-1 vote. Municipal councilor Billy Jackson was the only disvenienced, quoting during the concerns of the meeting concerning overtime costs for city employees and the overall cost of the city event. The agreement establishes expectations and requirements for the city and the organizers of the event.

The event agreeing on the five -year commitment to organize events in Decatur, the City also agrees to pay $ 5 million to the organizers during these five years. The City has agreed to make an investment of $ 1,200,000 in the event by October 31, 2025.

The city will invest $ 1,100,000 in the second year, $ 1 million in the third year and $ 850,000 in fourth and fifth years. After the first year, all payments will be due on October 1 as long as Rock The South complies with its own commitments to the city.

Although the city has agreed to invest in the event, the agreement also requires that Rock The South restore money to the city. As part of the agreement, the event will grant 50% of its parking income to the city, as well as the income generated by 10% fees added to tickets that include camping on site.

Rock The South will also have to pay $ 50,000 a year to help improve infrastructure upgrades to the event.

The agreement also presents more intangible advantages, like rock the south, accepting to lend the city its marketing expertise and to mark the event under the name of rock The South – Decatur.
