Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones has been criticized for his lack of effort on Trevor Lawrence’s game-winning touchdown Sunday.
If you can’t stand the heat, get off social media.
That’s exactly what Jones did by deactivating his social media accounts this week.
The three-time All-Pro stood and watched Lawrence fall after his right foot was stomped on by his right guard, got up and then ran 1 yard for a touchdown with 23 seconds left. This gave the Jaguars a 31-28 victory.
After the game, Jones was asked not about his own effort, but about the play. He said he thought “we had it a few times” and added that the Chiefs needed to “finish.”
Chiefs coach Andy Reid spoke about Jones’ efforts Wednesday.
“You can’t think this guy is down. You can’t think that” Reid said, via Dave Skretta of the Associated Press. “You have to play the part. He knows it. He’s been there for a long time. That’s really what it comes down to.
