Chicago loses a commercial citadel

The first step to healing is supposed to be admitting that you have a problem. But Illinois Governor JB Pritzker still won’t, even after billionaire Ken Griffin said Thursday he was moving his Citadel hedge fund and securities trading firm to Miami from Chicago.

Mr. Griffin noted in a letter to employees that many workers had asked to move to other offices, including Miami. They don’t just want to escape the Chicago winters. Many are literally running for their lives amid a crime wave that shows no signs of abating. So far this year, flights to Chicago are up 65% over last year.
