Mustard is on the breakfast menu this Saturday.
Condiment brand French’s has launched a limited-edition donut covered in — you guessed it — mustard glaze to celebrate National Mustard Day.
Frankenfood’s creations were born out of an unexpected partnership between French bakery and New York-based Dough Donuts, according to a press release shared with CNN.
“This year, we’re thrilled to partner with Dough and introduce French’s Mustard Donuts, adding our classic yellow mustard to morning routines,” said Jill Pratt, chief marketing officer for French McCormick’s parent company, in the press release.
“We’re more committed than ever to showcasing exciting new ways to enjoy this fan-favorite condiment and we can’t wait to reinvent breakfast this year,” she said.
Open-minded foodies can try the tangy donuts for free at one of Dough’s six NYC locations on Saturdays “while supplies last.”
And mustard fans who can’t make it to New York can order a free box of two donuts for delivery from Dough’s website Saturday at noon.
Home cooks can also find out if mustard complements donuts as much as hot dogs with French’s Homemade Mustard Donut Recipe.
French’s is no stranger to culinary innovation that blurs the sacred lines between sweet and savory. Earlier this year, the brand launched ketchup-flavored popsicles in Canada.
And in 2019, they released limited-edition mustard ice cream for National Mustard Day.
