Car pulls off the road, crosses a fence, and enters a house in Clifton, New Jersey
It happened just after 11:30 a.m. on Colfax Avenue in Clifton, where it intersects with the Garden State Parkway. Newscopter 7 was on the scene as crews worked to remove the vehicle.
The driver, who witnesses described as a woman in her 50s, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.
At this point, it’s unclear why she lost control, but the car covered a fair distance before coming to a stop.

“She did not appear to be seriously injured,” eyewitness Carl Haefele said. “One thing that really surprised me was the integrity of the car. She was able to open the driver’s door, after all that trip and falling into a 10 or 12 foot embankment. She was able to get out of the car. the car will drive around to watch it. “
Haefele said he heard what he thought was a tractor-trailer in his lawn, but when he got out the only thing he could see was a big mess.
There were pieces strewn about from different sets of fences, and his neighbor’s garage had a hole in it.
“She had to move, really move,” he said. “She more than likely walked a few hundred feet on the boardwalk before she got to our fences.”
The car crashed into the air conditioning unit and narrowly nearly crashed completely into the townhouse.
The cause of the driver’s loss of control is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

It’s unclear if speed was a factor, but Haefele said it wasn’t the first time he’s seen a crash in the area.
“I have been in this house for 48 years,” he said. “I saw cars come off the promenade twice. This is the first to go through the fence.”
