Canadian « Jeopardy » Super-Champion Mattea Roach Returning to Alex Trebek’s Stage

TORONTO — Canadian phenom « Jeopardy » Mattea Roach will return to television everywhere next month for the show’s Tournament of Champions.

Roach, who hails from Halifax and now lives in Toronto, earned her place in the tournament this spring when she won 23 straight regular season games.

It is the fifth longest streak in game show history.

The pre-recorded tournament itself begins airing Oct. 31, but Roach isn’t expected to appear until Nov. 8, when she takes part in an exhibition match against Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio, two other so-called « super- champions » of the past year.

Schneider holds the second-longest streak, having won 40 games, while Amodio is third with 38.

Roach, Schneider and Amodio will then face a larger field of competition for the semi-final of the Tournament of Champions later in the week.

This report from The Canadian Press was first published on October 24, 2022.
