Canada reaches Round of 16 at 3×3 Women’s Basketball World Cup


The Canadian Women’s 3×3 Basketball Team is heading to the Round of 16 at the World Cup.

The team bounced back from an 18-16 extra-time loss to Spain with an emphatic 21-12 win over the Netherlands to earn their ticket to the knockout stage on Thursday in Antwerp, Belgium.

Canada ends the Group D round robin in second place with a 3-1 record after opening its tournament Tuesday with a pair of resounding wins over Israel and Chile.

Canada, ranked 13th, were grouped with Spain (4th), the Netherlands (5th), Israel (11th) and Chile (14th) in Pool D. direct for the quarter-finals. Each round of 16 match is knockout.
