The Canadian Men’s National Basketball Team has secured a spot for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
Canada closed its place from August 25 to September 25. Tournament on October 10, 2023 in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines with a 94-56 victory over Venezuela in qualifying Thursday in Edmonton.
Canada is the only undefeated team in the Americas qualifier with a 9-0 record. Venezuela is now 7-2.
This is the second straight time that Canada has qualified for the World Cup, which will feature 32 teams in 2023. The team led by Nick Nurse, who misses the majority of Canadian NBA players, finished 2-3 in the last edition of the tournament. in 2019 in China and missed the quarter-finals.
The 2023 World Cup will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The top two teams from the Americas at the tournament will secure Olympic berths.
Kassius Robertson led Canada with 16 points off the bench against Venezuela, a game in which the hosts never trailed. He was 6 for 6 on the field.
The match was delayed 25 minutes due to travel issues for Venezuela.
