Burglary suspect arrested after being identified by ‘mosquito blood’

Mosquitoes are known to be irritating insects and often disease vectors. However, a mosquito in China helped solve a mysterious break-in thanks to a bloodstain.

The thief reportedly entered the apartment through its balcony in Gulou district of Fuzhou city in Fujian province, China in June, the Shanghai Daily reported.

Fuzhou police believe he may have spent the night in the apartment, discovering a used mosquito coil, packets of noodles and eggshells in the kitchen during the investigation.

The incident was reported to Fuzhou police on June 11, and when officers inspected the high-rise residential complex, they found a bloodstain on the wall from a mosquito.

Knowing the burglar may have stayed in the apartment overnight, the report says they decided to test for blood, noting it was newly furnished and it was odd that the owners left blood on it. the wall.

DNA test results revealed the blood belonged to a man named Chai, who was found to have an extensive criminal record and was also linked to three other burglaries, according to the Shanghai Daily.

Chai was arrested by police in Fujian Province on June 30. He reportedly confessed to perpetrating the four crimes and was apprehended in police custody pending prosecution.
