Brews of tension in Mahayuti: the absence of Eknath Shinde raises questions

Everything is not going well in the Maharashtra leader alliance. Almost a year after the creation of the coalition government in the form of the chief minister will become Fadnavis, negotiations with allies are not resolved. This would have resulted in growing dissatisfaction with deputy minister Eknath Shinde, considered the second most powerful leader in the government.

SHINDE dissatisfaction is again in place. His absence of four consecutive key meetings this month fueled speculation, political circles noting that his concerns no longer seem to be taken seriously by the management of the BJP.

The rift surfaced on August 13, when Shinde jumped the meeting of the state cabinet in the middle of a controversy on the functions of hoison of the independence flag. His close collaborators – the ministers Dada Bhuse and Bharat Gogavale – were denied the opportunity to hoist the flags in their original districts, Nashik and Konkan, with responsibilities instead of Girish Mahajan of the BJP and Aditi Tatkare of NCP. With full -time Guardian ministers to be appointed to these districts, Gogavale even approached BJP management in Delhi several times but has received little response.

The absence of shinde has continued since. Although he was the Minister of the Guardian of Mumbai, he jumped a crucial revision meeting of the Act respecting the Ganehotsav preparations called by Fadnavis at the Sahyadri guest house. On August 19, although in Mumbai, Shinde jumped another meeting of the cabinet, rather choosing to inspect the Mithi river during the heavy rains. Once again, on August 22, he missed a War Salle Revue on Amrut 2.0 and the regimes of the social sector, where Fadnavis expressed his dissatisfaction with delays in the own urban development department of Shinde.

Adding to speculation, Shinde was also absent from high -level public events such as the inauguration of a double bridge in Pune and the launch of a drinking water project in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar – both assisted by Fadnavis as chief guest.

The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seized these absences, calling them evidence of cracks within the power alliance.

Shinde, however, denied any rift, insisting: “We are united against those who oppose development”. However, his repeated absence and his unresolved questions – such as the delayed appointment of the Guardian ministers – raise questions about the cohesion of the Mahayuti, in particular with the local elections approaching the Maharashtra.
