Blue Jays Springer and Manoah added to MLB All-Star Game
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah and center back George Springer were added to the American League roster for the July 19 All-Star Game on Sunday.
Manoah, 24, leads the Blue Jays starters with nine wins and a 2.34 ERA, both stats rank third among American League pitchers.
The sophomore pitcher also ranks third in the AL with 107.2 innings pitched.
This will be his first trip to the All-Star Game.
Springer, 32, will be making his fourth All-Star appearance. His 16 homers are second most in Toronto, behind the 19 homers of fellow star Vlad Guerrero Jr.
Guerrero and wide receiver Alejandro Kirk were named all-star starters on Friday after being selected to the American League team after finishing atop their positions in the second round of fan voting.
Springer finished fourth in voting for the American League outfielders.
