MANILA — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured new Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Saturday that relations between their two countries were extraordinary and said Washington was committed to their joint defense pact.
Marcos, meeting with Blinken at the presidential palace in Manila, said the current geopolitical environment showed how important their ties were, and US President Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan underscored how unstable the region was.
