National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders and workers have called for the Bihar Bandh on Thursday (September 4) to protest against the alleged insulting remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers blocked roads across various parts of the state against remarks made at the INDIA bloc’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ dais, from where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ally Tejashwi Yadav had addressed the rally earlier.

While protesting the remarks, Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “It is Indian culture to respect the mother… If anyone from our party had used this kind of language, we would have taken strict action and apologized… The public of Bihar will give a befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.”

“It is very shameful that Prime Minister Modi’s late mother was mistreated and they have not apologized until now,” Prasad added, according to news agency ANI.

Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal said, “Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav should apologize to the nation.”

BJP and NDA workers blocked roads in Patna, the capital of Bihar, and staged protests in Gaya and Danapur, where workers were seen burning tires to mark the agitation.

BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh told ANI, “Bihar mothers and sisters are participating in the Bandh called by the NDA following the derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Modi’s late mother during a Mahagathbandhan event in Bihar.

“You cannot run away after abuse. The public of Bihar will give a befitting response to Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav,” he added.
