Biden to host Macron for his first state dinner
The visit of President Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, « will underscore the deep and enduring relationship between the United States and France, our oldest ally, » Jean-Pierre said. “Our close relationship with France is based on our common democratic values, our economic ties and our cooperation in defense and security. Leaders will discuss our close and continued partnership on common global challenges and areas of bilateral interest.
Biden and Macron have met before, including recently at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and worked closely on a number of issues, such as the war in Ukraine, Jean-Pierre said.
Macron was also the first foreign leader to attend a state dinner during the administration of former President Donald Trump, visiting with his wife in 2018.
