Beau Rothwell gets life in prison for killing his pregnant wife

A Missouri man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his wife who searched her phone for « what to do if your husband is upset that you are pregnant » before his 2019 disappearance.

Beau Rothwell, 28, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife of four years, Jennifer Rothwell, who was pregnant at the time, KSDK reported on Friday.

« We first published this murder case and, as stated in today’s sentencing, we never made any further offers. That was not an option, » the official said. St Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell, according to the television network.

A Missouri man, Beau Rothwell, was sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife Jennifer Rothwell in 2019.

Bell also mentioned that Jennifer Rothwell will never be able to hold the child she was six weeks pregnant with at the time of her death.

« We felt that this individual should be held accountable for his actions and that is what we intended to do. »

Beau Rothwell was convicted of first degree murder and lesser charges earlier this year.

Rothwell admitted to killing his wife during his trial, but claimed it was not planned.

At trial he admitted to killing his wife but insisted it was not planned and instead happened during a heated argument about an affair he was having with another woman , hoping to be convicted of a manslaughter charge.

He testified to hitting his 28-year-old wife with a mallet in November 2019.

Prosecutors argued the husband was a careful planner, showing texts between him and another woman in the months leading up to the murder and a list of pros and cons he compiled about whether he should leave his wife .

He was also seen on camera shopping for cleaning supplies a day before Jennifer Rothwell disappeared, police previously said.

Her body was found badly beaten a week after she was reported missing by Beau Rothwell.

« To Jennifer’s family, words cannot describe how sorry I am. It should never have happened,” Beau Rothwell said as sentencing approached, according to KSDK.
