BC premier calls Surrey South by-election


British Columbia Premier John Horgan has called a by-election in the electoral district of Surrey South.

The seat became vacant following the departure of Liberal Stephanie Cadieux, who resigned in April to become Canada’s first accessibility chief.

After Horgan’s announcement, the BC Green Party announced the nomination of Simran Sarai, a student at Simon Fraser University, as their candidate.

She joins NDP candidate Pauline Greaves and Liberal candidate Elenore Sturko in the race for the provincial seat.
