A piece of metal from an explosion inside a vehicle earlier this month in the B.C. interior went through the corner of a nearby house, police said this week.
On Wednesday, Trail RCMP released an update on the explosion, which occurred on the morning of Sept. 9 in Montrose, a community about 10 minutes east of Trail.
Police say a 41-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in the blast. He was later found near his vehicle and received life-saving assistance from the public.

RCMP believe the incident was isolated, calling it a targeted explosion.
“Investigation found that a piece of metal from the explosion had traveled significantly away from the scene and passed through the corner of a neighborhood residence,” RCMP said Wednesday.
« He missed the owner by a narrow margin. »
The blast happened at a house along the 200 block of 8th Avenue just before 7 a.m.

Police added that they « suspect the explosion may be related to organized crime and drug trafficking in the West Kootenay area, and are consulting with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit. »
The RCMP added that the investigation is continuing and that the victim is expected to recover from his serious injuries.
