Aviation climate plan fails because it is co-written by industry representatives

Canada’s new aviation climate plan prioritizes the growth (and profit) of the aviation sector over protecting Canadians and others from worsening climate disasters.

Unlike other countries that are taking steps to limit or reduce the number of polluting flights (especially short-haul flights), Canada’s plan allows for the continued and unbridled expansion of air travel.

Perhaps the prioritization of aviation industry growth and profits over climate action in Canada’s plan is unsurprising; after all, it was co-authored by industry representatives without input from non-industry experts and stakeholders, or the public.
