authorities urge caution on the road

While several regions of the province will receive significant snowfall, Quebec authorities are calling for caution on the road.

The Sureté du Québec (SQ) and Transports Québec have both published instructions for motorists on their respective Twitter accounts, inviting them to be extra careful on the road at the start of winter.

“Before leaving home, clear snow from your vehicle and your headlights. Be sure to adjust your driving to the weather conditions, slow down and be patient,” recalls the SQ.

“If you have to hit the road, be extra careful, reduce your speed and keep a safe distance from other vehicles,” says Transports Québec.

According to this afternoon’s report from Météo Québec, several roads were snow-covered and visibility was reduced in places after a first snowfall in the South and Center-du-Québec. In the greater Montreal area, between 10cm and 17cm of snow fell. There could be more by Thursday.
