Arrest of a Canadian citizen returning from Syria

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced the arrest last night in Montreal of Oumaima Chouay, a young woman returning from Syria.

The arrest took place at the Montreal-Trudeau airport. The 27-year-old had been under investigation by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) since November 2014, according to the RCMP.

Ms. Chouay, who faces four counts of terrorism, will appear today at the Montreal courthouse.
